Microsoft has unveiled a new feature in Internet Explorer 9 to help users avoid being tracked online, but now the majority of sites used for the purpose advertisement according to user behavior.
Protection features Tracking Lists (Protection List monitoring) will tell the browser that the content of any third party is permitted and prohibited content.
Lists Tracking Protection feature is a feature that users choose to participate or not, and Microsoft says it will not provide any list of any of their own. Instead, third parties may provide to the user list. Thus, this list can come from other organizations to protect privacy, the supporters of the anti-ad or individuals who want to block certain content. This list will be updated automatically at the beginning of each week.
In fact, Internet Explorer has a similar feature called InPrivate Filtering to block scripts (scenarios) of the third party monitoring and other means. However, InPrivate Filtering operation method based on self-collected empirically. This method can cause instability problems as it can not prevent the behaviors that are believed to track users and even it can also block a lot of third party scripts make web pages not work. Conversely, Tracking Protection Lists will be monitored and thus be less affected by these issues.
This announcement was made shortly after the Federal Trade Commission FTC urged the developers put browsers on the button “Do not follow – Do not track” to prevent any acts of monitoring any user third party. Tracking Protection Lists can also allow users the option of participating in some or all of the monitoring mechanisms depends on your preference. This list may also be useful to prevent the kind of spying that typical Internet site, YouPorn are litigated because this behavior.
Specific details on features Protection Tracking Lists are not known at all. Microsoft has proposed a file format for this list and they promised that the technical specification details will eventually be published under a Creative Commons license.
Tracking support feature will be the first Protection Lists in Internet Explorer 9. Microsoft does not address the issue, however, is likely early next year.
